And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge. (Quran: Al-Kahf: 85)

Integrity: Beyond The Ego

ImageThis morning, I got a new thing to learn which is mood-swing exposure on top level executives.

When we were trying to enter the room of M&A class, suddenly at the very first step we entered the room a voice of our lecturer was heard as “you are not allowed to as late for an hour.” In response, we closed the door, walked away, and wondering what had been going on.

Speaking about our lecturer background, he has devoted his life in financial services industry for decades and getting his PhD degree with Summa-Cumlaude status. At recent years, he was assigned as CEO of an Indonesian public company in multi-finance sectors. Really a great talent!

About few weeks back then, our lecturer gave such policy that although we come late, it’s still permissible to join the class. It contradicts with what had he said few minutes ago. Well, so far, in our hypothesis, it could be explained by several things.

First factor, the weather condition last night was not so supporting for having intelligence-stimulating activities. Besides weather, the class started with about around 25% of total students. Speaking about academic agenda, today class should have been for HBR study case discussion.

Derived from these disturbance factor, it is believed that mood-swing could fluctuate and destroy the integrity value of a person.

As to be a better being, let’s manage our emotions wisely to be beyond the ego.
